William Franklin Adams
William Franklin (Billy Frank) Adams, age 78, husband of Anita Denham Adams and father of Tim Adams, passed away Sunday, July 7, at home in Mayfield Hollow. He was born Feb. 13, 1935, in Hyden, KY, to the late James E. and Anna Horton Adams. He was a 1952 graduate of Somerset High School where he excelled in football and basketball. He received an Associate Degree from Campbellsville College, a Bachelors Degree from University of Kentucky, and a Masters Degree, Elementary Principal Certification, and Rank I in Supervision and Administration from Eastern Kentucky University. He worked for a short time for the YMCA in Louisville. He taught school and coached basketball in the Pulaski County School System for 18 years. Billy Frank served in the Somerset Independent School System 17 years as Principal at Memorial Elementary and Meece Middle School and was recognized as an Outstanding Kentucky Principal in 1989. He taught a total of 35 years retiring in 1991.
He then volunteered for a year as a teacher at Oneida Baptist Institute, Oneida, Kentucky. He was a member of the KASA, KTRA, and PCRT and was also a Lifetime Member of PTA. He pastored several churches in the county including: Cedar Point Baptist Church, Pleasant Run Baptist Church, Burnetta Baptist Church, Okalona Baptist Church, and New Enterprise Baptist Church. He took mission trips to Brazil, Canada, and Mexico. He was a member of Rock Lick Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and worked with children in the AWANA program. He had a great love for his church family and all the children he was privileged to teach in church and school. He was former co-owner of Wolf River Dock, Albany, Kentucky and Buck Creek Dock, Somerset.
Billy Frank had many hobbies including: gardening, beekeeping, housing colonies of Purple Martins, hunting, fishing, and raising coon hounds and goats. He was a true storyteller, capturing the attention of everyone around with his many humorous stories of teaching, hunting, fishing and traveling adventures.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Timothy Mark Adams and wife Stephanie; their two sons: Benjamin William Adams and Nicolas Mark Adams, Lexington, Kentucky; two step-daughters: Michelle Prather Oney and husband, Michael; their children, Lauren and Nicholas, of Carrollton, Texas and Monica Prather Kelty and husband Robert and their daughter, Destiny of Bardstown, Kentucky; two brothers: Thomas F. and Glenda Adams, Somerset, and Edward H. and Jayne Adams, Frankfort; and Sister-in-Law: Jean Adams, Byrdstown, Tennessee. He was beloved uncle of Jeff, Jon and Jimmy Adams, Victor Lowhorn, Becky Adams Edwards, Patty Adams Roach and Amy Adams McLaughlin, Kathy Adams Dotson, and Betsy Adams Paulley; Great-uncle to Tyler and Austin Adams, Dustin Lowhorn and Tiffany Lowhorn Norris; and in-laws: Jackson and Kay Denham, Linda and Earl Goff and Sharron Neikirk.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, William F. (Bill) Adams, Jr. in 1979, and his brother, James E. Adams, Jr. in 2006.
The family would like to thank the members of Rock Lick Church who have gone above and beyond what they could have expected to assist in caring for Billy Frank these past 20 months.

A celebration honoring the life of Billy Frank Adams will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at 10:00 Am also in the chapel of Somerset Undertaking Co and Crematory .
